Three generations have worked to improve the quality of coffee beans at Riverdale Estate, located in the Eastern Ghat mountains of Yercaud, South India. Prakashan Balaraman, a young man with a passion for growing coffee, challenged traditional coffee growing and processing practices. In the last ten years, Riverdale Estate has transformed into modern farming practices, from a state-of-the-art tasting lab, an energy-efficient grinding plant, drip irrigation systems for plants, African-style raised beds for drying coffee, to a tightly controlled storage room, all in an integrated environment for optimal crop production.
