Profitec Drive Overview

The Profitec Drive is a reimagined version of the renowned German-made Pro 700, Profitec’s flagship dual boiler espresso machine. Equipped with an E61 flow control device and enhanced by a new PID controller, the Drive provides precise control over brewing variables while simplifying upkeep with built-in maintenance reminders. Profitec has also streamlined the machine’s design, incorporating sleek new elements that reflect the aesthetic of their other models.

The Profitec Drive guarantees power and precision with its dual boilers and dual PID control. Users can independently adjust the temperatures of the 0.75L brew boiler and the 2.0L steam boiler, ensuring excellent thermal stability and steam power. At a maximum steam temperature of 132°C (270°F), the Drive generates an impressive 2 bar of steam pressure. For brewing, it features a whisper-quiet rotary pump and includes Profitec’s E61 flow control device, allowing for variable flow rates from 2.5 to 28.5g/sec for precise espresso extraction.

The updated PID controller offers a host of advanced features to enhance brewing and convenience. In addition to controlling brew and steam temperatures, it allows users to turn off the steam boiler when not needed, saving energy. The programmable pre-infusion feature enables precise control, allowing for a pump run time between 1-10 seconds, followed by a pause of 1-60 seconds before brewing begins. For added convenience, the PID includes maintenance reminders for backflushing and water filter changes, an eco mode, and two programmable wake-up times for each day of the week. Thanks to its rotary pump, the Drive can be connected directly to a water line or run from its 2.8L water reservoir.

The Drive’s Fast Heat Up feature offers a unique heating cycle that overheats the boiler, allowing it to reach brewing temperatures more quickly. After a cooling flush, the super-hot water brings the group head and portafilter to the ideal brewing temperature, helping to ensure optimal thermal stability.

Externally, the Profitec Drive showcases signature design elements from the Profitec collection. Quick steam valves and Twist and Change portafilter handles allow for easy customization with various accents and materials. The iconic “P” cutout on the drip tray, along with black brew and steam pressure gauges, maintain the machine's elegant aesthetic. Inspired by the Pro 400, the Drive features a black frame beneath the drip tray and a cutout "Profitec" logo on the back panel.
